Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, World Medical Relief was started in 1953 in Detroit by a woman named Irene Auberlin. The agency's mission is to facilitate the distribution of surplus medical resources where they are needed. As such, our programs have both a local, national and international focus. Goods are distributed in a non-discriminatory manner without regard to race, color, gender, religion, nationality or political beliefs. In pursuing the mission, the Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff seek to:
-
Relieve human suffering
-
Demonstrate respect for all customers, clients, and patients
-
Collaborate with community organizations collectively to provide services to those in need
-
Maintain a proactive approach to improving services provided
