Helping Hand for Survivors, Inc. (HHS) is a non-profit organization with a mission to empower survivors of war and conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Founded in 2012 by Dr. Jean Claude Luhere and Kashoro Nyenyezi, both Congolese war survivors themselves, HHS understands the struggles faced by women, girls, and children affected by violence.

  • Our Mission:
    • To support survivors of sexual violence, trauma, and displacement.
    • To empower communities through education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
    • To advocate for the rights of the forgotten and marginalized.
  • Our Work:
    • We operate multiple departments focused on:
      • Women's Empowerment
      • Healthcare (including two hospital centers in Bukavu and Goma in the East DRC)
      • Education
      • Nutrition
      • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)
      • Spiritual Care (Ministry and Shelter
    • We address the gaps left by other organizations and government efforts.
  • Our Impact:
    • We provide essential services to vulnerable populations in the DRC.
    • We empower communities to become self-sufficient and build a brighter future.

  • We have headquarters in Kentucky, USA, and we are also registered with branch offices in Canada, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
