Bridging the Gap: Delivering Compassionate, Low-Barrier Care for the Unhoused and Under resourced

  • Breakout Session
  • Main Building ED 210/211/212 (Classroom)
  • November 13 2026 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

In the midst of an opioid crisis and rising rates of homelessness, mobile health clinics are uniquely positioned to deliver compassionate, low-barrier care to society’s most vulnerable. But how can faith-based organizations and Christian healthcare professionals engage this space in a way that is both evidence-based and Christ-centered?
This session explores how the Belmont University Flourish Health Clinic integrates harm reduction, behavioral health including substance use disorder, and medical care into its mobile outreach to unhoused and at-risk populations—grounded in a deep commitment to mercy, dignity, and unconditional love.
From socks and naloxone distribution to wound care, trauma-informed medical and mental health services, and physical and occupational therapy, this presentation highlights how the Gospel compels us to meet people where they are--physically, medically and spiritually.
